Alexandra instructs all levels of students from beginning to advanced. She emphasizes stick technique, rhythm theory, rudiments, and time feels. She teaches all styles of music ranging from rock, to jazz to hand drums. Alexandra customizes each lesson per student, empowering the student to articulate their needs and desires for their own learning environment and allowing every student to have a unique lesson plan.
Alexandra also teaches beginning piano and theory lessons, and will provide custom lessons if students prefer to learn multiple instruments.
Alexandra believes strongly in the power of music and drumming and has studied drum circle techniques and music therapy resources. Understanding the emotional and mental healing that comes from playing music, Alexandra hopes that each of her students feels accepted and willing to dive internally to meet challenges head on.
In addition, Alexandra is an instructor with Girl's Build a non-profit organization based in Portland, OR, inspiring curiosity and confidence in girls through the world of building. Breaking down gender stereotypes is a passion of hers. She believes music has the power to transform and change one’s abilities in all areas of their lives, and enjoys being able to collaborate with Girl’s Build in order to amplify young women’s skills.
